Sunflower oil has a bright business prospect and is favored by edible oil producers. However, some intentional producers are not clear about the specific production benefits of sunflower oil and its influencing factors. Two main factors affecting the production efficiency of sunflower oil are processing raw materials and extraction methods, the specific analysis is as follows.

1 Processing raw materials influence oil yield

The sunflower oil yield of sunflower seeds with and without shells is different. The oil content of sunflower seeds with shell is about 45%, and the oil content of sunflower seeds without shell is about 65%. We recommend that you use sunflower seed kernels as the raw material for sunflower oil processing, which can ensure a higher oil yield, because sunflower seed shells will absorb part of the oil, resulting in the decrease of oil yield and refined oil purity.

2 Extraction method influence oil yield

Usually we have two extraction methods: direct pressing and pretreatment + solvent extraction.

① Direct pressing

If you use this method to produce sunflower oil, you can get a simple calculation based on the oil yield of the material and the oil content of the processing residue and get: 1 ton of sunflower oil is require about 1.8 tons for sunflower seed kernel, and about 2.7 tons for sunflower seed kernel.

② Pretreatment + solvent extraction

If you use this method to produce sunflower oil, it can be obtained by simple calculation according to the oil yield of the materials: 1 ton of sunflower oil requires about 1.7 tons of sunflower seed kernels, and about 2.3 tons of sunflower seeds. However, this method is more suitable for production lines above 40t, because although the solvent extraction method can greatly increase the oil yield of the oil, the equipment cost and operating cost required are relatively high.
