The color of sunflower oil is same as amber with a small amount of phospholipids, mucilage and wax (about 1.25%). Usually, sunflower oil has a low acid value, and is pale yellow after refining.

Sunflower oil contains a large amount of unsaturated fatty acids: linoleic acid, oleic acid, linolenic acid and palmitic acid. So sunflower oil is benefit to the health of us. Because of it with the features of high smoke point, soft flavor and bright color, sunflower oil is choosed firstly when people cooks.

However, crude sunflower oil contains a lot of wax. In sunflower oil refining process, besides common refining process, dewaxing is necessary. Only dewaxed sunflower oil can be sell in supermarket.

The other important point we should pay attention to is that refined sunflower oil is oxidized easily and with poor storage stability. So when storaging, adding antioxidants like TBHQ(0.01%~0.02%) in the refined sunflower oil is better.
